Retro Scout is a curated place-discovery service. This policy explains what information the service handles and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, a private compatibility username, optional display name and profile image, password hash, verification records, and active sessions.
- Saved places: the places you privately save and when you saved them. Saved-place histories are not public.
- Support and content requests: your contact email, message, the relevant place or media, delivery state, and the curator's review outcome.
- Service data: ordinary request, security, error, and operational information needed to run and protect the site. We keep daily aggregate counts of discovery views, place views, completed signups, first saves, and successful returning logins. Those counters do not contain account, session, place, URL, network, or location identifiers. We do not use precise visitor location or private saved-place histories for product analytics. An account-level first-save marker prevents duplicate counting and is deleted with the account.
How we use information
We use this information to operate accounts, deliver verification and recovery messages, maintain private saves, respond to corrections or removal requests, secure the service, diagnose failures, and understand aggregate use of public discovery features.
Service providers and external content
Retro Scout uses service providers for hosting, database and image storage, transactional email, maps, error monitoring, and security. Place pages may load maps or link to media and source sites such as YouTube. Those providers may receive your IP address, browser details, and the page or resource requested under their own privacy policies.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it to service providers that help operate Retro Scout, when you ask us to, or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people, or protect the service. Support contact details and private saves are not displayed publicly.
Retention and security
Account and save data remain while your account is active. Support and content-review records may be retained after resolution to document the request and editorial response. Security logs, verification records, and backups are retained only as operationally needed. Aggregate product counters are retained for up to 400 days. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
Account settings let you export account and saved-place information, remove saves, and delete your account. Account deletion removes active credentials, saves, and sessions. Uploaded profile-image objects may require separate operator cleanup, and editorial records may retain a deleted-reviewer marker. A support request submitted separately is kept with its supplied contact address so it can be handled.
Children and changes
Retro Scout is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the service changes and will revise the date above when we do.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may also have rights to know, correct, or delete personal information or to appeal a response. Retro Scout does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
